Coat quandary

Dogs Today’s Christine Bailey is looking for a coat which features leg straps, plus a hole for attaching lead to harness. Any suggestions?

She says, “I put a coat on Dan – my Border Collie - today which does have harness hole, but keeps slipping over to one side so it’s right down one side but he’s completely exposed the other!”

Any suggestions would be gratefully received by a chilly dog!

  1. I put the harness on over the coat!

  2. The new Hurtta harnesses both have harness straps, I believe. I got the Ultimate Warmer for Inka and it has a (covered) hold for both a harness and collar, plus leg straps, a chest cover, a high neck, and bits you can either cover their bum with or fold back like a 'normal' coat shape. I love it, as does Inka, it's been a brilliant purchase.

  3. My dog wears a Danish by Design one. His is 2-in-1, fleece inside and waterproof, with velcro so can just wear the outer one if necessary. Both layers have a hole for his lead and it stays secure with a strap around his body, with velcro attachment. There are elastic straps for the hind legs but my dog doesn't like these, he walks funny but I find the coat stays on okay without. If I wanted to I would probably change these straps to velcro ones too. This coat was bought online at one of the pet websites and was about £11, but my dog is fairly small. Good luck x

  4. I'm not sure if this is the type of thing you are after but i have a Masta Deluxe Waterproof Dog Coat. It has a bit that goes between the legs and does up around the dogs shoulders if that makes sense. it also has a slot for a harness.
