How to avoid a scar?

I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this... My puppy had a nasty cyst on her head & had it removed yesterday in now I'm worrying that it may scar does anyone know of anything that will prevent this like a doggie equivalent to bio oil??

  1. The scar will be barely noticeable in a few months. My Weimaraner shattered his hip in an RTA, had a plate put in and the pins removed a few weeks later, so has two scars but they are just thin lines. I'm sure you're puppy won't be worried about it! The only scar he has that is really noticeable is the one on his neck where he had a large lump removed and there was alot of scar tissue, but this was reduced with massage treatment.

  2. Aloe Vera Gel, Calendula cream/lotion - this is for burns, but it's scarring just the same, lots of info here

  3. My dog suffers with bad elbows and we have tried everything including bio oil and have yet to find a success. Hopefully fur should grow over that because it's on her head but I shouldn't worry too much, dogs don't tend to fret over wounds like we do :)
