Can dogs get cold sores?
Can dogs get cold sores?
My two English Springer Spaniels have sores on their noses that look like cold sores, but no other symptoms anywhere else.
Sounds like you need to go to the vets to get them checked out; even if dogs can get cold sores (I don't know either way), it may very well be something else & so best to check it out - especially with distemper on the rise again.
Definately get your dogs' noses checked out. It could be a fungal infection, or some form of Lupus.
I don't want to worry you, but a lost a dog nearly two years ago, which started as a sore nose. It turned out to be skin cancer. Probably as both of your dogs have this it woudln't be that, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I have never heard of a dog getting a cold sore.
