A square meal

I am looking for a quality feed which has a low level of high quality protein, for my 12-year-old active in mind and body Beardie cross. His current food is 38% protein (from meat) and I am concerned this may be too much for the kidneys to deal with.

Thank you.

  1. I am not a nutritionist but I am not sure there is any correlation between a food with a high percentage of protein and kidney issues. I have also heard it said that high percentage protein foods can make a dog more hyperactive and perhaps aggressive. Once again, i do not think that is true. Surely it is more about the quality of the protein rather than the quantity?
Perhaps a nutritionist can explain more about protein levels.

  2. ...if it is dry food you are already overworking the kidneys!
