I've just heard of something called a Panda Shepherd. Is it an early April fool is this another new breed? If it is a cross, what is it a cross between?
I can't imagine anyone needing a dog to herd Pandas! But I guess anything is possible!

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteMay name is Marion and I breed Pandas in Canada under the prefix "Furrari Shepherds"
Panda shepherds are purebred German Shepherd Dogs that happen to have a very different "pattern" to their coat color. The first Panda was born in Ohio to a Lady named Cindy McCann, (Phenom Shepherds) and you can visit her website for all info on Pandas. They have been thoroughly DNAd and genetically tested with the University of Davis in California, USA, (more than any other breed at its start!) and any of the close breedings (Mother to son) were done under their supervision. They asked for close breedings to be done to see what was detrimental in this line of dogs. Nothing has come up ...thankfully.
...So now we have a very different looking GSD, and the GSd breeders are not pleased that these dogs are not swept under the carpet or PTS. Hence the change in names to Panda Shepherd.
Hopefully this has opened some eyes to the wonderful possibility that there may be more to life than meets the eye.
Regards from Canada!
