Gut feeling
Hello,
Have you any advice on what particular brand of probiotic might be best for our dog?
Yumega have brought out a couple of different ones. One a daily and one a vet strength plus.
I tend to use my 'human' ones if necessary but thankfully I steer well clear of vets.
If your dog has antibiotics it is a good idea to replenish their gut flora with a course of pro-biotics to build up their immune system again. Pre biotics feed the pro biotics. This can be found naturally in bananas, asparagus, garlic. (Avoid onions).
we tend to feed our boys St helen's goat milk yogurt from any major supermarket. It really seems to do the trick, however if we have a real serious bout of illness we revert to Protexin Pro Kolin, which is rather expensive, but certainly works. We always have a tube in the cupboard just in case!
Inka was actually one of the lucky "testers" who trialled Lintbells BioActiv, and after seeing him on about three weeks worth, and then off them I'm just about to go and buy some more!

In the veterinary strength version, Yumpro BioActiv Plus, which is designed for problems such as diarrhoea, we also include a special clay called Montmorillonite to bind things up, Threonine which helps support the protective mucosal layer in the gut, and a lignan rich fibre to support health digestion. It usually sorts things out within a couple of days.
The other two key benefits with the YUMPRO range are that they are easy to use, and significantly better value than the traditional paste products on the market.

I have a yoghurt maker and make my own natural yoghurt using a packet mix. My dogs love it and of course it is natural. Hope this helps
