Please can you recommend a natural treatment to protect my dog (and cats) from fleas and ticks?
I don't like using spot on drops on them - my dog has a reaction to them and I think it may have caused my old cat to have nerve damage. Do you know of any alternative natural treatments that are effective?

Some people are plagued by midges and mosquitos while others never seem to be bothered. This is probably due to different blood quality and the odours they give off. The same applies to dogs. Making your dog's system unappealing to invaders is one of the best natural ways of preventing parasite infestations. You can do this by feeding a high-quality, hypoallergenic diet which is low in protein and fat and high in complex carbohydrate from whole grains. It is also important to keep the feeding amount low. THis will not only reduce the likelihood of fleas, the healthy, toxin-free system will help to prevent lots of other health problems.

You can do this by feeding a high quality, hypoallergenic diet which is low in protein and fat, and high in the complex carbohydrate of whole grains. You should also feed sparingly. Not only will this reduce the likelihood of being attractive to parasites, it will also reduce toxin build-up and the risk of many other health problems.
