Is there a dog bed which keeps dogs cool in hot weather? My German Shepherd really suffers in the heat and will lie on the stone floor to get cool, which looks really uncomfortable. If anyone can suggest a more comfortable solution I would be very grateful.

Oh yes!!! available at Amazon online and probably a few other sites called a CANINE COOLER - also 'Chillows' for us humans. Great product.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that not all dogs are happy to use these. An alternative is a cooling coat. There are several of these on the market, but I have recently treated my oldie to A K9 Cool Coat, which was recommended to me as being useful in or out of doors - some are designed to keep a dog cool in the sun only.
ReplyDeleteI have used it a few times and am very happy with it. It absorbs water and then gradually releases it into the atmosphere, cooling the dog in the process. It doesn't leave the dog wet. I bought mine on ebay -

I would let your dog sleep on the stone floor, if that's where he chooses to be. My previous dog, a spaniel, hated the heat and the last place he wanted to sleep in was a bed. Even the carpet was too hot.
ReplyDeleteHe lay on the bathroom floor at night, or on the wooden floor downstairs.
The stone floor may look uncomfortable to you but he probably loves its coolness.

I can't imagine a dog not liking the Canine Cooler it is a fairly flat 'cold' mattress? Do you know why the dog objected???
ReplyDeleteWhen I was looking into this a few people said their dogs disliked the cooler and would simply move off it, I have no idea why - the texture? Anyway that's why I decided to go for the coat instead. Easier to move around, too!
ReplyDeleteWhy not try the Keep Cool Dog Coat, best coat on the market, I think. It not only keeps your dog cool for up to 4 hours it brings there temperature back to normal within 10 mins if they are overheated. Ideal for sleeping in, or in the car whilst travelling even machine washable. The website address is www.keepcool.org.uk
